Dear Jackie,
Greens for our health, and Greens for our gardens! It is the perfect time of year to get kale, chard and other greens at the market. If you are new to eating greens, ask the farmers and they can give you tips in preparing these healthy nutritious products.
Our nursery growers have an amazing selection of plants for your gradens, whether it is flowers or food you want to grow.
A new 2010 addition: Market U kicks off this Saturday, and Gayle Larson of Dancing Raven Designs will tell you how to Grow Vegetables from Starts at 10:30 and 12:00 in the Market U canopy.

Sarah brings her incredible Heirloom Tomato plants to the market this week. 5 inch pots are $3 each or two for $5. Her gallon plants are $6 each or two for $10.
Lilliputs:
Sandy has snow pea starts for $1 each or buy five and more for $.75 each. These are regularly $1.25, so pick some up just in time for your spring vegetable planting.

Moosedreams Lavender Farm:

Hansville Creamery:
Coming in May: Cheese Making Class. Basic cheese making for family kitchens, just some easy ways to make cheese for the family table such as panir or queso blanco, cream cheese or chevre, and ricotta. They also have Kefir Grains, and will do a demonstration at the cheese class. Kefir is a naturally fermented milk product that has tons of probiotics for good health. A sign up sheet for the class will be at the Hansville Creamery booth.

The Poulsbo Tree Board will be joining us this Saturday in honor of Urban Forestry month.
Poulsbo has an Urban Forestry program that helps preserve the trees of Poulsbo. They have developed a tree planting guide to help you know the right trees for the right place.

| We kick off "Market U", a new 2010 addition, with "Growing Vegetables from Starts".
Gayle Larson is a Landscape Designer and Certified Professional Horticulturist. She has been an urban vegetable gardener in the Pacific NW for over 10 years. Through her business, Dancing Raven Design, she offers edible garden design, coaching and consultation services. She teaches vegetable gardening classes in Kitsap County and is co-teaching the Culinary Garden class at Edmonds Community College.

Week three of the market season and the market keeps getting better and better. The Market U is this Saturday, which gives you an opportunity to become inspired and educated about the many uses of the products at the market.
