On Saturday, September 16th, almost 60 friends and supporters of the market joined us for our first fundraiser, a four-course Harvest Dinner and auction held at MorMor Bistro in downtown Poulsbo.
The generosity of the attendees helped us raise over $8000 to purchase new canopies for our special events and non-profit guests, along with other much-needed equipment. Thank You!!!
Market Vendor Contributions
Our evening kicked off with time to socialize and study the ten (10) items in the Silent Auction. Poulsbo Farmers Market vendors contributed many items for the auction, including produce (Abundantly Green), Living Succulent Wreath (Smoke Tree Farms), Farmer Fjord Boot Lamp & Purse (Red Rooster Farms), Hand-Knit Baby Snow Suit (RNR Originals), Framed Photo of Afghani Child (Mobility Project), Bird
Bath (Bramble Patch), and many, many other items for various baskets.
Market vendors also contributed produce and other items for the delicious four-course meal prepared by Chef John Nesby and staff of MorMor. Smoke Tree Farms heirloom tomatoes and Farmhouse Organic corn were used in the first course. Der's Gardens beets and Poulsbo Sprouts Micro Arugula were used in the second course. Finn Hill Farm potatoes showed up in the third course. CBC Chocolates were part of the dessert course, served alongside Bella Vita Coffee.
Gorgeous flower arrangements provided by Miki's Garden, Red Rooster Farms and Pheasant Fields Farm were so popular that they were added at the last minute to the Live Auction!
Heated Bidding on Canopies
A bidding war took place for one of two Live Auction items. Ultimately, Sally & Craig Kvam of Poulsbo Compounding Pharmacy took home Poulsbo Mayor Kathryn Quade's beautiful original painting of a sunflower that she did for our 2007 season poster. The most exciting point of the night was the "fund a canopy" portion of the Live Auction. We had five (5) paddles raised right away at the full $400 level!! In total, 18 people contributed to "fund a canopy." All contributors will be recognized with their name on one of the canopies!
Heartfelt thanks go to everyone who attended the Harvest Dinner, all of our vendors, and John and Laura Nesby and MorMor Bistro staff. We are so appreciative of the support we receive from the community and look forward to another successful season in 2008!
