Poulsbo Farmers Market’s Jackie Aitchison Selected for Washington State Farmers Markets Association Leadership Position


Poulsbo, WA. – July 25, 2007 – The Poulsbo Farmers Market today announced that market manager Jackie Aitchison has accepted a position as the new Administrative Director for the Washington State Farmers Markets Association (WSFMA). Jackie will continue to serve as the market manager of the Poulsbo Farmers Market while taking on the day-to-day management of the association that is dedicated to supporting and growing farmers markets in Washington State.


We are extremely pleased that Jackie has accepted the position with the Washington State Farmers Market Association as it is good for Jackie, for the Poulsbo Farmers Market, and for all of the other farmers markets in Kitsap County,” stated John Pyles, President of the Poulsbo Farmers Market Board. “With a strong commitment to the promotion of local farmers and artisans, deep understanding of how to operate a successful and growing farmers market, and fundraising skills, Jackie will be a tremendous asset to the WSFMA as she has been to the Poulsbo Farmers Market.”


Along with a strong knowledge of WSFMA’s inner workings, Jackie brings to us the extensive administrative, operational, and fundraising experience we need”, said Pam Greuter-Schmidt, president of the Washington State Farmers Market Association. “The board is excited about having her on staff as we execute plans to grow the WSFMA in the coming years.”


A non-profit, membership organization, the WSFMA was established in 1978 to support and promote vibrant and sustainable farmers markets in Washington State. The current membership roster includes 103 farmers markets from across the state. In her role as Administrative Director, Jackie will oversee the day-to-day operations of the WSFMA, engage with the WSFMA’s many local, state and community partners, maintain media relations and provide operational guidance to WA-based farmers markets.
