Get Fresh
|
Monday, 05 May 2008 |
Come rain or shine, there is nothing like the market!
What's a little rain when you've got fresh lettuce mix, arugula, eggs, cut flowers, veggie starts, cheese, salsa, soda, mini-donuts, brats and more to peruse and purchase!
Chef Willem Reinders prepares Asperges Flamande.
Our hats off to Chef Willem Reinders for serving up fabulous Asperges Flamande to a hungry, and curious, crowd. His dish of white asparagus, boiled potato, hardboiled egg, Black Forest ham, and melted butter was so simple, yet so good. Check out the menu for his May 10th wine dinner. Fabulous!
Our other hero for the day - Cesar Medel! What a beautiful and soothing sound. Thank you for keeping our hearts warmed with your sweet guitar. Up next week? Acoustic guitarist and singer, Jeff Moore, returns to the Market with an eclectic mix of "happy Gypsy jazz guitar" and "Café Parisienne" circa 1930's.

The Poulsbo Farmers Market, along with our partner markets in Kitsap has partnered with the Kitsap Regional Library to promote the benefits of buying locally grown produce throughout the month of April. The library will feature resources on this topic, and will host our very own Jackie Aitchison for a special program on the following dates:
Bainbridge Island Branch - Sunday, April 6th, at 2:00pm
Port Orchard Branch - Sunday, April 13th, at 2:00pm
Sylvan Way Branch - Sunday, April 20th, at 2:15pm
Poulsbo Branch - Sunday, April 27th, at 3:30pm
Jackie will explore the many benefits of shopping and eating locally. She will share tips and secrets for getting the most out of your trip to the farmers market. You will also learn how your neighborhood
farmers market has far reaching effects, both in terms of economic development and the environment. Topics will include nutritional value, food safety, and security.
Come on down and hear what Jackie has to say while picking up a list of resources to explore.
Note: Jackie will also be speaking on this same topic at Barnes & Noble in Silverdale, Sunday, May 18th at 2 pm!

One of the many ways you can show your support of the market is by becoming a Community Member.
We often find that some individuals would like to participate in the market in some way but can't find a sponsorship program that works for them. For these folks we have another option: Community Membership! Community Members often provide volunteer support for special events, and are even able to vote at our Annual Meeting.
Sign up to be a Community Member today by filling out the application that can be found under in our document library under General Information.
